Coraline Review

Henry Selick's stop-motion movie Coraline  (2009), is about a young girl named Coraline, played by Dakota Fanning, and her wild, mysterious adventure in her new home. This family film takes place at the Pink Palace apartments in Oregon holding three homes. Coraline and her parents voiced by Teri Hatcher & John Hodgeman, moved from Michigan and are writers who are working on a new garden catalog. While exploring her "boring" new home, Coraline discovers an odd closet. However, when she opens the door, it's just a brick wall. The next day she meets a new "friend" named Wybie, played by Robert Bailey Jr., who gives her a doll that looks just like her.

Later that night after meeting her new neighbors, she hears mice and decides to follow them which then leads her to the closet she had found only this time looked a lot different and is a tunnel that leads to another world. In this new world, Coraline thinks she found her mother, it was really her "other mother". After a few nights and loving this new world, Coraline's other mother and father asks her to stay with them forever on only one condition. After hearing this condition, she then realizes and learns more about the secrets of this "dream" of a new world. Will Coraline ever find her way out?

Although this is a family movie, I feel that some content of this movie is not suitable for children. The movies includes parts as taking out eyes and sewing buttons in replace which if you think about and picture it in your mind, is very gory. Another part of the movie that is not suitable for kids would be the two actresses that live down stairs that put on a show for Coraline while she’s in her new world. One of the sisters were dressed from bust down the other was completely naked with little covering her private areas. The movie is a very good movie but just have a few parts that were not appropriate for its rating.

The Voice

On Monday, September 10, 2012, The Voice came back with its third season on NBC. What is The Voice? It's a singing competition that is based on the contestant's voice instead of their looks. Judges are known as coaches because the contestants are divided into teams. Coaches include, Maroon 5's Adam Levine, country superstar Blake Shelton, pop-star Christina Aguilara  and  Cee Lo Green. During the "blind auditions", judges have their chair turned until one contestant has their interest, then the judge hits their button and turns around. When a judge turns their chair it indicates that the judge wants that contestant on their team. If more than one chair is turned, then the contestant chooses which team they want to be on.
After the premier, each coach left with two out of the eleven contestants that had auditioned. Within the opening night you can tell that the show has amazing talent ahead. The main four contestants that had caught my attention was Garcia Harrison, Devyn Delorea, Joe Griffin and Trevin Hunte. One of the contestants was a returning contestant from season 2 that unfortunately did not turn a chair the first time. After asking what he could have done better, Daniel Rosa came back to The Voice for a second try and didn't turn just one, but two of the judges chairs. Garcia Harrison was the first contestant to yodel during her audition in which she sang "I want to be a cowboy's sweetheart". Trevin Hunte had the best audition out of them all. Hunte sang Listen by Beyonce and left everyone with chills.
I personally thought that this premier was worth watching every minute of it. The only part of the show I did not like well was that the contestants were pre-chosen before the show. However, that does mean that the contestants that go on have potential that the judges would want. Who will win after the final battles? The Voice comes on NBC, Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c.
